Welcome back Pear Pals! Tia from RockMtnCraftia.com here with you, sharing another card design idea with the PEACE stamp set-the newest release from Prickley Pear Stamps.
Earth Day is Saturday April 22nd and the PEACE stamp set is an awesome way to make a set of cards to remind family and friends of the special occasion.
I decided to make a shaker card filled with silver stars and the earth image from the PEACE set for my card.
Card Design
My card base is A6-4.5x 6.25 in. I adhered soft gray cardstock to the base. I selected this cool space background from a 4.5 x 6.5 paper stack. I used a rectangular die to remove the center and create my frame for the shaker.
With the rectangle adhered to the card base, I glued down a few stars and sequins to the paper so when you shake it, those pieces will stay in place. I edged the rectangle with foam tape and then filled with shaker bits from my collection (silver starts, purple circles & squares, clear & opal sequins).
I took the frame and glued it to a piece of acetate that was 5.5 x 4in ,
Before adhering the acetate frame to the foam tape for the shaker, I wanted to get my sentiments completed and glued to the outside of the acetate.
Embossed Sentiments
Onto vellum, I stamped PEACE in white pigment ink. I then embossed with Star Dust embossing powder.
I love the sparkly look it has, especially on the vellum! So I kept the theme going! Again with the vellum, I used purple embossing powder for ‘on’. Coloring planet earth looked flat with all the embossing, so I had to emboss it too!
Using the new Seth Apter-Cosmic collection of embossing powders from WOW (avail. in the Prickley Pear Store), I used an embossing pen to trace the water-then heat emboss. Then traced the land and heat embossed again. You can see from above how awesome the texture and colors are!
Yes, I got heat emboss crazy because I just replace my worn out heat tool of 10+ years with the gorgeous WOW heat tool-again available in the store! No affiliate links-YET! I really do just LOVE these products!!!
I completed the card by adhering the vellum pieces with ZIG-2 Way Glue. By completely covering the vellum-it didn’t show thru once stuck down. After letting it dry for a bit, I adhered the frame and completed this card.
You can easily put your sentiment inside the card, but then the sequins tend to get caught up on the words. I’m also a very textural person and I like that you can feel the embossed letters since they are on the outside of the shaker.
