Hello crafters! I hope you’re doing well. This past weekend Pajama Crafter Stamps held a virtal crop to celebrate National Scrapbook Day. If you missed this one, don’t worry because we plan to hold these free events several times throughout the year. Joy shared how to make a galaxy background and used it featuring two different stamp sets. She did this so she could show how versatile this one technique is and how easy it is. In fact she said, “If I can do it, anyone can.” Let’s take a quick look!
It was only natural to do a scrapbook layout for National Scrapbook day, so we decided on a 6×8 inch layout which fits perfectly in Simple Stories books. For this layout Joy blended a rainbow of Distress Oxide Inks in the center and then added a dark blue and black dye inks to the perimeter and slowly added them over the rainbow. Finally the panel was splattered with water and white acryllic paint to achieve the stars. By splatter both you get the representation of stars that are both close and far away, just like you see in the night sky. While that dried the elements were colored with Copics and die cut out using the Date Night dies. Finally the elements were added including the photo layering mats.
The same technique was used on this A2 card, but Joy tried her hand at coloring translucent balloons. By translucent, we mean you can see through one balloon to the next. The key to achieving this is to use colors that are analogous or close to one another on the color wheel. Flippin Best was paired with a sentiment and stars from the High Five stamp set to create this uplifting scene.
