Hey, crafty friends! Rick here today on the Pajama Crafter Stamps blog, bringing you an jaw’some card project that’s sure to brighten anyone’s day. We’ll be diving into the wonderful world of underwater scenes with the Happy Flappy Stamp Set and the What the Krill? Stamp Set. If you love crafting playful, vibrant cards, you’re in for a treat!
Crafting a Vibrant Underwater Scene
When I first laid eyes on the Happy Flappy Stamp Set, I couldn’t resist pairing it with the What the Krill? Stamp Set to create a dynamic underwater scene. The adorable great white shark and complementary elements like the starfish and underwater plants are perfect for an engaging and lively card design.
I began by stamping the great white shark and some underwater plants onto some sooth white 80 lbs cardstock with an alcohol marker friendly black ink (from my stash). This ink is my go-to for its crisp lines and compatibility with alcohol markers.
Bringing the Images to Life
Coloring is a delight, especially when using my favorite brush markers (from my stash). These markers offer vibrant hues that make the images pop.
Pro Tip: Use a blend of light and dark shades to add depth and dimension to your images. It makes them look more lifelike and adds visual interest.
Once the images were colored, I fussy cut them with my small fussy cutting scissors (from my stash). While it can be time-consuming, precise cutting truly elevates the overall look of your card.
Crafting the Perfect Background
Next, I focused on creating a captivating background. I cut a piece of white cardstock to 3 3/4″ x 5″. Using some scrap cardstock (from my stash), I created a sandbank mask and secured it in place. I blended Distress Oxide Inks (from my stash) in shades of blue to form a gradient ocean background.
Adding flicks of watercolor from my stash with a small round brush added a touch of sparkle, mimicking light on water.
Pro Tip: Vary the size and intensity of your watercolor flicks for a more natural, dynamic look.
Assembling the Card
With the background ready, I removed the mask and ink blended the sand with inks from my stash. For the card base, I used White Ultra Thick 110 lbs Cardstock. I layered two pieces of patterned paper from my stash, adding a small strip of teal cardstock for an extra pop of color.
Adding the Finishing Touches
After stamping the sentiment directly onto the card front, I adhered the kelp and seaweed images using liquid glue from my stash. I used foam tape from my stash to give the shark and starfish some dimension.
Finally, I sprinkled a few Arctic & Boyfriend Blue Rhinestones from Pajama Crafter Stamps around the card for a bit of sparkle. These finishing touches add just the right amount of bling to complete the scene.

And there you have it! A jaw-some underwater scene card that’s sure to make anyone’s day brighter. I hope this project inspires you to dive into your stamp collection and start creating your own unique scenes. Don’t forget to share your creations with us – we love seeing what you come up with!
