I’m featuring the Christmas Village stamp set by Pajama Crafter Stamps this week, and oh, how I love this set! The images work together in endless combinations, making it perfect for building festive winter scenes.

For today’s card, I went with a dreamy sky in rich teal. I began by stamping the house and two trees in VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink on watercolor paper. Then, I stamped the same images onto scrap paper to create masks, carefully covering the house and trees before painting.

With the scene masked, I brushed water across the cardstock, staying close to the house and very close to the trees. Inspired by the Aurora Borealis, I mixed Emerald Green with a touch of Turquoise blue, picking up plenty of pigment and sweeping it from top to bottom. As I neared the bottom edge, I lightened my brush to leave just a soft hint of color. I repeated this process once more to deepen the richness of the sky.

While the paper was still plenty wet, I splattered Cadmium Yellow, White Gold, Light Gold, and Yellow Gold across the sky. The way the gold shifted the green and blue was magical—just what I was hoping for!

To finish, I painted the little house and gave the snowy trees the faintest touch of color. For the card assembly, I layered teal green glitter paper behind the watercolor scene and adhered it to a crisp top-fold card base. The sentiment was stamped on a square of watercolor paper, backed with a matching glitter paper square turned on its point for extra sparkle.
