Where did August go? My goodness…time sure flies!
I’m happy to be here sharing a couple cards with you today. Both of my cards feature water-colored images – and I have to admit this was out of my comfort zone. I am a beginner, for sure! BUT…. our design team is doing a friendly little challenge with water-coloring so I decided to go for it! I used my distress inks to water-color on both cards…and while I need to practice, practice, practice…I do love the softer look that comes with this technique. I also learned that not all water-color paper is the same….lol
Ok so onto my cards…Both cards also feature the A.DOR.A.BLE. Pajama Crafter Stamps Flippin’ Best Stamps set…and seriously – these penguins – oh my heart! I love them!
For this first card, after water-coloring my image, I die-cut out the square and then stamped out my sentiment. I didn’t want my penguin to be all about winter and snow, so I paired him with some fun flower and plaid patterns. I love to layer so I needed to add a fun cluster. This card would be perfect to send a sweet thank you note or simply to let someone know how great they are – just because.
For my second card, I was excited to use the penguin with the cookie stamp! – If only I looked this cute eating giant cookies hehe!
I found this paper in my stash that had mixers on it so for me it made sense to use it with this cutie (’cause cookies are made with a mixer) – it’s also how the color scheme came about for this card. I knew right away that I also wanted to use the Dang, Whoa, Yikes! Word & Shadow Dies with this card. I think the combo of DANG with the sentiment is perfect! and well….its also more like what I would actually say!
