There’s something extra special about creating cards that celebrate the unconditional love of our furry friends—and this one is full of heart! For Pet Week, I created a fun fold bridge card that highlights just how much our pets mean to us – using my dog, Zeus, as my inspiration.

This design features several techniques – fun fold, alcohol marker coloring and embossing – all rolled into a playful, bright, cheerful, pet-focused card.

The Process

I started with a card base of 10.75 x 5.5 inches. I then scored one side at 1.25 inches, 2.25 inches and 3.25 inches. Flip the card base and score the at the same increments on the opposite side. You will fold accordion style – be sure to burnish the folds crisply as this will help your card to pop up when pulled from the envelope. This will yield a card that is 4.25 inches x 5.5 inches and fits into an A2 sized envelope.

To the base, I added a back panel which was embossed with a super sweet paw print embossing folder from my stash. I used the same color cardstock as the base. This provides subtle dimension and fun without distracting from the focal image.

I cut 3 pieces of patterned paper from my stash: 1.25 x 4.25 inches for one and 1.25 x 5.5 inches for the two side panels. I layered the bridge piece with a deep red, which helps anchor the focal panel while keeping the design cohesive. How adorable is this dog stamp from Where Hope Blooms? The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with alcohol markers before being mounted to the bridge piece. Of course, a colored image isn’t complete without some white gel pen highlights!

To bring this card to life, I paired the playful bone-patterned background with bright, cheerful florals from my stash. The sweet pup holding a flower from Where Hope Blooms Stamp Set takes center stage, perfectly capturing that loyal, loving spirit we all adore. I stamped the sentiments from the Forever Loved Stamp Set and cut them using the Banner Die Set. The sentiments tuck in perfectly behind the floral sprays!

Once the card was completed, I added a top folding card base to the back side so that I had space to write a message to the recipient. I love how the card stands up so that it be kept on a shelf or desk as added decoration to be admired.

This card is a sweet reminder of the joy pets bring into our lives. Whether you’re celebrating a beloved companion or sending comfort to a fellow pet lover, this design is both meaningful and fun to create. Have you tried a bridge fold card before? It’s such a rewarding design—give it a try and let your creativity run wild!
