This week’s Craft Roulette challenge turned into something so much more personal than just creating a card.
The parameters for the challenge were:
🎲 Project: Z Fold
🎲 Element: Game(s): DND dragon
🎲 Colors: Summer Vacation
🎲 Random: Add a Cat
For my project, I created a dramatic Z Fold card featuring the Gamers Flash Cards, Halloween Flash Cards, and the incredibly meaningful Unstoppable Stamp Set from Pajama Crafter Stamps.
But behind this card is a story that means so much to me.
One of my dearest friends is currently facing a difficult health battle, and while creating this card, I kept thinking about her strength, courage, and faith. The fierce dragon from the Gamers Flash Cards became a symbol of the battles she is facing, while the sweet little soldier from the Unstoppable Stamp Set became the reminder that she is never fighting alone.
The scripture sentiment:
“Put on the full Armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” – Ephesians 6:11
felt especially powerful for this design.
The little warrior may be adorable, but she represents strength, determination, and faith. I paired her with the sentiment:
“The comeback is always stronger than the setback.”
because that message perfectly reflects my friend’s spirit.
Creating the Z Fold Design
The Z Fold card style worked perfectly for this challenge because it allowed me to create a storytelling experience as the card opens. The bold dragon image creates immediate drama and intensity, while opening the fold reveals the uplifting warrior standing strong and fearless.
To tie into the “summer vacation” color parameter, I used vibrant tropical-inspired tones with bright pinks, oranges, purples, and warm sunset shades throughout the project. The bold alcohol marker coloring really helped bring the dragon to life while keeping the overall project energetic and eye-catching.
Special Personal Touch
One of my favorite details is the hidden tip-out element featuring the black cat hat from the Halloween Flash Cards set — which also happens to be my friend’s favorite design that she created herself.
I embossed another uplifting message onto the tip-out for an extra layer of encouragement and inspiration. Those little hidden details are often what make handmade cards feel even more meaningful and personal.

This card reminded me why I love crafting so much. Sometimes it’s not just paper, ink, and stamps. Sometimes it becomes a way to encourage someone, pray over them, and remind them they are stronger than the battle in front of them.
