I’m excited to share today’s colorful card project inspired by this week’s Craft Roulette Challenge! Even more exciting, Pajama Crafter Stamps is a Spin Sponsor for Craft Roulette this month, making it the perfect time to jump in, get creative, and play along with the weekly challenge.

If you’re not familiar with Craft Roulette, it’s a fun live cardmaking challenge hosted by Mary Gunn FUNN where four random parameters are spun each week to inspire your project. The challenge always stretches my creativity and encourages me to look at my supplies in new ways.

This week, I created a cheerful 1970s Flower Child inspired encouragement card featuring products from Pajama Crafter Stamps. The combination of retro colors, encouraging scripture, and a sweet flower-crowned girl image made this one of those projects that simply makes me smile.

If you’d like to see exactly how this card came together, be sure to catch the YouTube Live Replay, where I walk through the coloring, design choices, and all the details that brought this project to life.

Craft Roulette Parameters

Project: Post Card(s)

For the postcard-inspired element, I incorporated a postage die from my stash to add texture and visual interest to the stamped strip behind my focal image. The faux postage edges create a fun layered look while helping frame the encouraging sentiments in the background.

Colors: 1970s

Nothing says Flower Child quite like a warm retro color palette!
For this challenge, I focused on:

These classic 1970s-inspired colors helped create a vintage vibe while still feeling fresh and vibrant. The warm shades were perfect for the flower crown, flowing hair, and uplifting feel of the card.

Element: Wreath

For the wreath parameter, I decided to think a little outside the box.

I used the You Are Stamp Set, which features a circular design, to create my own custom patterned paper background. By repeatedly stamping the sentiments and scripture references, I created a design that mimics the visual feel of a wreath while surrounding the recipient with encouraging words

ome of the messages peeking through the background remind the recipient they are:

I love creating cards that not only look beautiful but also speak truth and encouragement into someone’s life.

Random: Preprinted

For the preprinted requirement, I reached for the All Occasion Flash Cards.

To add a little extra sparkle and shine, I foiled the inside sentiment panel. The gorgeous foil finish catches the light beautifully and adds a special touch without adding bulk to the card.

Inside, the card reads:

“You Got This – Wishing You a Speedy Recovery”

A simple but meaningful message that can brighten someone’s day during a difficult season.

Coloring the Flower Child

The star of today’s card is this adorable flower-crowned girl.

Her oversized eyes, daisy headband, and carefree hairstyle immediately reminded me of the Flower Child movement of the 1970s. I had so much fun coloring her with alcohol markers, incorporating warm oranges, reds, and pinks throughout her hair and accessories while balancing everything with soft denim overalls.

By fussy cutting and popping her up with dimension, she becomes the focal point while allowing the encouraging stamped background to remain visible.

Design Details

The black accents help ground the bright retro colors while adding visual balance throughout the design.

Why I Love Encouragement Cards

One of my favorite things about cardmaking is creating something that can genuinely encourage another person.

Whether someone is recovering from an illness, walking through a difficult season, or simply needs a reminder that they are loved and valued, a handmade card can have a powerful impact.

This project combines scripture-inspired encouragement, retro Flower Child charm, and heartfelt sentiments to create a card that reminds the recipient they are seen, loved, and supported.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this project inspires you to pull out your favorite stamps, play along with a creative challenge, and make a card that encourages someone special.

Don’t forget that Pajama Crafter Stamps is a Craft Roulette Spin Sponsor this month, and we’d love to see what you create with this week’s parameters!
