Card Patterns Sketch Challenge

Hi All,
Card Patterns has another great sketch challenge going on today. And I thought I would play along. My sketch is a little different, than theirs but still fun!
I am just having so much fun with the little owls from the Birdcage Clear Stamps Set and Matching Die from our line – Prickley Pear RS. This little set is so versatile, the birdcage is stunning when cut from the die, I love it plain. But I have been gravitating to the little owls and the cherry blossom branch. It’s funny, when Mary asked me to illustrate more owls and little birds, I groaned… but I have to admit, this is one of my favorite sets yet. I love it because the little owls are so tiny!
This card was easy to do. Final size is 5.5 by 4.5″.
I pulled out one of my Martha Stewart punches, used for the scalloped border and scalloped circle. I grabbed coordinating papers in shades of brown, pink and a blue patterned paper that had all of these colors, copic markers, the PPRS Birdcage Die and coordinating stamps buttons and bling.
I stamped our Funky Floral background onto brown cardstock, using a black memento pad. I then colored in the tips of the flowers with a deeper shade of brown, using my copic marker. I mounted to white cardstock, and trimmed closely.
The scalloped circle was easy to do, and gives a fun dimensional element to the card. Start with an 8″ by 1″ strip of paper. Punch one edge with Martha Stewart punch, then fold accordian style every 1/4 of an inch. Gently force into a circle, taping the ends. I found that this piece stayed together best when it was immediately mounted to the background paper.
Next, punch a 2″ scalloped circle punch. Color with light blue distress ink. Stamp the cherry blossom twig with Walnut distress ink. Cut two owls from Birdcage Die, and stamp into the centers with the coordinating dies. I used a matching pink paper for one and a natural color for the other. Stamp Thinking of You and cut at odd angles around the phrase. Mount all as shown and adhere to the scalloped circle
The little border on the side was stamped with the tiny hibiscus that comes from the Prickley Pear Hot Air Balloon clear stamp.

Adhere all as shown finish with buttons and bling, and you are done!
