The Pumpkin Head, which was released in September makes me lose my mind with all the ideas I have to use him for. I know that teal pumpkins have really became the “thing” in recent years, but why not a blue one?
Creating scenes with The Pumpkin Head is what gets me jazzed, because you can make them as ornate or simple as you please and you still have an amazing project because the image is large and in charge!
I started the background by blending the Full Moon with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink and then adding the spots using the second layer in Gathered Twigs. Next I masked the area with the included circle layer and then blended the blood red sky using Lumberjack Plaid, Fired Brick and Crackling Campfire in an ombre effect. To add more depth, I tore a piece of cardstock and blended Black Soot creating the cloud cover. The real spooky part was blending different black gradients throught the Spooky stencil creating the spider web, the graves, and the bats. Could it be any scarrier.
Coloring the Pumpkin Head is the best part. You can make him any color to pop off the page. In this instance I used colors that were opposite on the color wheel (blue and orange). I colored it with Copics, but you of course could use your medium of choice!
I hope this has inspired you to do something crafty today! Also if you happend be reading this on World Card Making Day, there’s a sale going today! Use code: WCMD2024
