Paper Piecing Tutorial

Hello, and welcome back to the Prickley Pear.  Today, I am going to teach you how to make a beautiful Christmas Tag and piece your papers together so that there is no coloring required.
I am using one of our new Christmas Sets with matching Die Cut.
This is a great way to use up those small scraps of paper that you think you have absolutely no use for.  I have started with three coordinating colors and patterns of DP.
I’ve stamped my image three times, once on each color.  Next, cut out all three of these birds using your matching die.
Now let me show you how I have cut out my pieces.  Feel free to alter yours if you would like.
Next, using a glue pen, attach the tail and the beak portion.
The last step in piecing this cardinal together is gluing on the wing as I have pictured.
Isn’t this pretty with all of these colors and textures?  Now let me show you what I did with my little friend. I mounted him onto an SpellbindersTM Nestibilities Oval and tag shape cut from SpellbindersTM Beaded Oval Nestibilities. Shaded into the embossed areas added red and gold rhinestones and finished with gold ribbon.
There is no limit to what you can accomplish just by piecing several different papers together.  Hope you enjoyed this today.  Now go and get busy on some of those Holiday tags…it will be here before you know it!

Thanks so much for the tutorial! I am a visual type of crafter and I do so appreciate it when someone takes the time to walk me through a new technique. This new set is awesome – my favorite is the music notes with the flower image – just stunning!
