This weekend, we’re celebrating the joy of handmade Christmas cards with the Merry & Bright Inspiration Hop on YouTube, in addition to the card hop on Instagram —and what better time to share a little creative twist?

For Christmas, traditional holiday colors, candy-cane details and a bright blended background make these festive felines ready for Santa.

Then I switched things up with blues, white and gold and added a few simple elements to create a card celebrating Hanukkah. I used the Bundle of Wishes Layering Dies for the candles and the gift image from the Forever 29 Stamp Set. Put that decorated package on a SpinCycle Micro Rotator and you have a unique interactive card and another way to use all those crafty goodies you already own!

💙 Creating for the People We Love

This project was inspired by my own blended family.

My husband’s children from his first marriage were raised Jewish by their mom while also celebrating Christian holidays when they were with their dad and I. Today, they’re young adults with families of their own who continue to recognize both traditions.

It’s a wonderful reminder that families—and the ways we celebrate—are wonderfully unique.

Handmade cards let us create for the actual person receiving the card, rather than being limited by the theme printed on a stamp package.
