In the Mood for Christmas

All week long the sketch challenge over at card patterns has been calling my name. Today was the first day I was able to sit down in my studio to get to the challenge. I had envisioned dramatic colors, something in tan, black and reds, something elegant and sophisticated, after all, the sketch is a bit elegant this time around. But certain stamps called my name, and my vision took a turn. But I think that the results are fun! And… you are getting a sneak peek of a new die that we will be releasing this winter!

Here is what I did:
I started with a blue base that measures 3.5″ by 12″ long. Fold in half and edge with Faded Jeans Distress ink. I next pulled out our Snowflake Tree and stamped it with white chalk ink. I then stamped the edges of the card for added texture. I trimmed out a darker blue panel (2″ by 6″) and again, inked up my Snowflake Tree with white chalk ink. I stamped randomly. I created the trim using one of my favorite Martha Stewart border punches. I just love these punches lately! Next, I took my Faded Jeans and Weathered Wood distress inks and smeared onto my tefflon sheet. I then spritzed generously with water and dipped white cardstock into the mixture. Once dry, I used our Lacy Scalloped Circle and cut twice, once on the blue paper I created and once on cream cardstock. I then layered the two together, slightly twisting each layer, so you could see the underneath layer. I then stamped my little Snowman onto white cardstock, painted with watercolors as shown and layered onto the circle. I finished with a bow.
